Hi Everybody,
I recently completed a short movie for my last work, and of course Hair farm was used to generate characters hair and beards. I used hairsim to animate some hair but cloth simulations was heavily used to drive long hair motions because of the tight deadlines, as usual ^^ For Vimeo lovers: go to video on vimeo
I had tons of problem trying to render hair with Mental Ray (using all the different known options), for some obscure reasons some of my scenes crashed when the render time came. I still can't figure out why and what caused these crashes, anyway I still plan to use Mental Ray to render hair for my coming animated projects even if it sounds like a crazy idea ^^
Thanks to Cem for the support he gave during last summer on the forum when I was working on that project.

Nice work. I especially liked the beard model you attached. Thanks for posting it here.
I'm sorry to hear about your troubles with mental ray. I believe you used 3ds Max 2012 for this. I don't know if mental ray's hair rendering was improved in the newer versions?

Thanks!
Yes, I used Hair farm in Max 2012 for that project, I'm now on max 2014, I hope my random crashes will be fixed. The thing is I never had so many problems in the past when using Mental Ray to render Hair with Hair Farm, it must be related to my scenes, maybe some conflicts but there was no other plugins used at the same time. I'll tell you once I get the Hair farm update for max 2014.

Whaou ! Really great ! Did you manage to do all this only by yourself or was it a team work ? ( isaw your work as a freelance)
Anyway "chapeau bas!" and my congratulations !
Edit: i just saw your making off and it looks like a big and busy production: character capture and creation, clothes, rotoscoping... What softs did you used ? I guess marvelous designer, photoscan, Boujou or some elses...
Can you specify your production times for whole process (just to have an idea). I also going to watch your tutorials: looks very interesting !
