Very cool!

Did you do the gray hair with color variation or with mutant color?

I did that with the color variation material.
The only area I had a little worry was that the Shadow pass renders with artefacts.


I faced this with the other tests too. I had to manually smudge it in photoshop. Since it happens in a little occluded areas, it wasnt hard.

Hair Mutant Color would probably give you some more control in this case, that is, if you needed it.

As for the artifacts, it seems to appear at some other places as well. If you wouldn't mind creating a simple test case for me, I can look into it and find out the problem.

By the way, judging by the size of the staircase artifacts on your shadow pass, I must say that your hair shadow map size is way too small.

yes..it was quick render to post here. For the actual render I used a 2048 map and the staircases werent there. Only these artefacts were present.
