Woman hair in progress [NUDITY]

Post by Woodys3d »

I'm working on the hair for this new model. I want to tweak a few things I've just seen in this renders, but I'm happy with the result so far. I'm looking for feedback, to see how can it be improved.
The lighting it's not final, I still haven't decided how will the scene be lighted, so I just have a simple light rig right now.

By the way, the new version of hair-farm seems to work much better, I had a few bugs with the older version, and all of them seem to be solved. Great work!

Great work! :ok:
I loved what you did with styling. It looks really natural to me. Also, the subtle color variations are very nice.

That's really good!

The one area that I think needs some work is the back of the hair... the tips are too weak and spreaded... but the overall look of the hair is amazing, congratulations!

Oh my god, this is so realistic! The specular looks so natural with all those tiny variations! For how long did you study the program?

wow, my jaw dropped! lol
it looks so good and realistic!
yeah I would love to see how you handle the hair mesh and settings!
how do you get some single hair strays going randomly? they looked so good!

did you use simulation for the hairs on the shoulder? or just model the hair mesh?

Thanks a lot for all the comments!

Cem -> Thanks! I've just discovered the hairmesh link modifier wich this one. I've only used to apply a push modifier in this one, but it has a lot of possibilities I think.

instinctvfx -> Thanks! I'm sure you will, it's just a matter of practice.

Luiz Amaral -> Yeah, I kinda aggre, the back part was the one I was less sure about, but I couldn't determine wich was the problem (or if there really was one). I will try to add some more hairs below the actual ones, to see if this way the effect looks better.

Mister3d -> I can't remember exactly, I think I bought it 2-3 months ago. This is the 4th hair I do with it, but one of them was short male hair, so this is the 3rd long hair.

Bigguns -> Thanks! Since somebody decided to create a hyperrealistic male head (*cough*), I've been paying much more attention to skin shaders, so now I'm trying to improve the one I use, and I need a solid hair to go with it.

Kuroe -> Some of those random hairs are created using kink, frizz and spiral modifiers, but with long hair you can't go too crazy with them, or they will start going too wild, so I also created some specific hairmeshes that flow in different directions than the main hair, to add some more of those hairs.
All the hair you see is modeled, I didn't used simulation.

Right now it's a bit too late here, but tomorrow I will post some screenshots of the hairmesh and settings.

Thanks again for your comments!

Here's the hairmesh I used for that hairstyle. The top row shows the main hairmesh. There are 2 diferent hairmeshes, the yellow and the blue one, and I could really had only used one, but I prefered to separate them for no specific reason. Those meshes have a hair generate and some modifiers (clusters, kink, frizz) to create the main amount of hairs. They also have a couple of hair generates on top of the first one, that add a much smaller amount of hairs than the first one, but that have higher kink and frizz values, to create some extra randomness on those hairs.

To create the really uncombed hairs I used the hairmeshes you can see in the bottom row, plus a copy of the ones you see in the top row, with a push modifier applied on them. They generate a very small amount of hairs, but with even more modifiers to create randomness on them.

amazing work! that's all I can say.
do you use a haircap? or do you just extrude the hair mesh directly from the head =)

Thanks for sharing your hair mesh setup! :ok:

It looks good even on the mesh mode... feels natural... I think the hair mesh is the key to a good hair style.

Now for the back hair tips, looking on the hair mesh I think they are indeed a little bit too spread... you could try to make them more even... but again, the hair is already awesome!!!

Best of luck

Kuroe -> I use haircaps, this way I can also tweak a bit the mesh so it fits better for the hair I have to create.

Here's the final scene that I was working on.
This was a technical exercice. I wanted to try a few things with my skin shader, the lighting and the process of exporting from zbrush to max.
Once I had all the tests done I decided to show the character, but instead of just rotating it to show it from all sides I prefered to do this render to make it a bit nicer.

Unfortunatelly, the size is too small to see most of the details of the hair, but I guess that's what happens with full body shots.

Great hair work, some of the best I've seen with Hair Farm! Pretty risque result in that end image, but nice work on the skin and deformations too (some tricky bending of the upper arm/shoulder) :)
